Welcome to
Château de Villemont

Five centuries of Auvergne architecture, three decades of patient restoration. Château de Villemont is rising again, stone by stone.

The project

A five-century project,
the work of our time.

The Château de Villemont, in Vensat (Puy-de-Dôme), between Riom and Vichy, was raised in the 16th century by Michel de Veyny, expanded in the 18th by his descendant Gilbert de Veyny, and devastated in July 1958 by a fire that consumed roofs, floors and woodwork. For forty years, vegetation reclaimed what the fire had spared. It has been a listed historic monument since 2012.

In 1995, a group came together to save it. Since then, through patient works carried out under the supervision of the Monuments historiques, the château has been recovering its lines and its breath. Today, this long endeavour continues thanks to patronage, with donations collected by La Demeure Historique.
